Istanbul - Tuesday May 24, 2011

We have almost finished chandelier number two . . . We just need to adjust the base and put on the final piece of glass. Then we can start number three.

They look wonderful - but because of all the construction that should have been done already, before we arrived, there is dust everywhere, and the glass is already very dusty. . . Robert had requested that we come in at the last after all construction was complete!
Parking garage . . . and more importantly the bathroom key and the bathroom!

People are on computers and working everywhere you look . . . milk crates and all . . . their office is set up!

Lunch time & more food! Robert found a cute local restaurant on a side street, that had a charcoal grill inside, under a copper hood, where they roasted and cooked various vegetables and foods. We are trying everything . . . and looking for items we have not tried yet! And some favorites, like cucumbers in yogurt.

Fruit for dessert . . . on the house . . .

Delicious sweet cherries . . .
And sour green plums!

Our waiter showed me how to cook the eggplant over the coals, then peel off the charcoaled skin, like roasted red peppers. It was served skinned, warm and with lots of olive oil. Will have to try this at home on the barbeque!

Turkish coffee and tea . . . I go to Starbuck for a latte instead!

Working on glass pendant lamps . . .

Almost done with three chandeliers . . . tomorrow maybe?

As we were leaving, these men were installing one of fourteen? hand carved stone insets for the lobby. It was beautiful carving and stone. Can't wait to see tomorrow what it looks like finished.
