Delray Beach - Week 6 - February 11 - 17, 2013

On Monday we had lunch with Jean and June at Maggiano's Italian restaurant in Boca. It was good to visit and see them again before June headed home to New Hampshire.

On Tuesday morning I went rowing on the intracoastal waterway in a single shell. I saw a manatee! How exciting. Tina and I went to the Japanese museum for lunch on their outside terrace restaurant overlooking the beautiful gardens.

Wednesday morning I had another wonderful walk on the beach at sunrise. I will spare you more sunrise photos! I came back and finished painting my bathroom!
Here is the before:
And here is the after ~ all fresh with new paint and pictures and mirror rehung.
On Thursdays I go to the Tubten Kunga Center in Deerfield Beach.
They have authentic Buddhist teachings in the Tibetan Mayayana Tradition
with their resident teacher from Sera Jey Monastery in India.
Geshe Kyab gives weekly beginning teachings on Thursday evenings.
Here are some photos of the current center ~ however a new room and center are being finished in the same building and we will be moving there shortly.
On Sunday February, February 17, we celebrated the Tibetan New Year (Losar)
even though it was actually February 11th this year.
The year of the water SNAKE!
with special prayers and recitations for a blessed new year.
Also, Gloria Omeara, took her Rabjung nun vows during the event,
the lifetime vows of a monastic ~ very moving and beautiful celebration.
During the ceremony, we were each given fresh flower petals and stood in a circle,
and then threw the flowers forward in prayer . . .

Here is a group shot at the end of the celebration . . .
Eloise is the fourth in from the left in the back row . . .
